GOG GALAXY ON LINUX CODE
I would love to add that kind of direct connection in our new engine too, but it's a lot of new code and its in the area we have the most problems, so I can't really prioritize it that high, because for most people its just not practical.Īs far as the Galaxy on Linux thing. But just Direct IP is very problematic for a lot of users because of NAT and router issues. Well, so yes, Hammerwatch 1 did not require any of these additional clients, because it had just regular Direct IP connection. Because right now that's where I'm sitting and I can't deny that I truly wish you'd make it all work somehow, I really do. A game you're really looking forward to, released on GOG and available on your favorite OS but you can't play it. I'm not trying to sound like a jerk by saying all this, but try to sit from my position. It costs a lot more than the humble price HoH is asking, It came to GOG and I can still play Multiplayer (although limited to same OS) but I happily bought it and its' DLC.

GOG and Steam users would still be able to connect with each other.Ī great example how important LAN is last year's Sudden Strike 4, which has LAN and released on GOG. Then the last thing to do for Linux without Galaxy is to make to the Steam-Linux version run without Steam. If it was my decision I would have done it by keeping the Direct IP / LAN code in line while adding support for (Windows/Mac) Galaxy.

Today history repeats itself with the new Hammerwatch game. With SS Bogus Detour it all went downhill, from what I gather these features have been removed and the only available multiplayer is through Steam or Galaxy (Windows/Mac). With Hammerwatch you were on the right track, it has Direct IP and LAN, features of which I made use of happily. I feel like I'm wasting my time by writing all this, but here it goes:
